SENSEX ticks lower

The key equity barometers traded flat in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22804-22653. Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares retreated.


NIFTY inched higher by 0.68% in last session and lost 0.12% over last one-week.


At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, down 103.03 points to 73,503.72. The Nifty 50 index 1.40 points or remained flat to 22,754.60.


The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 1.04% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index posted strong gains of 1.85%.


The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 3435 shares gained and 1346 shares declined. A total of 267 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Media index posted strong gains of 3.68% to 1616. The index has risen slightly by 1.22% in last one month and moved higher by 1.43% over last one year. Sun TV Network, advancing 8.17%, led the gainers followed by Prime Focus, moving higher 6.60% and Netwrk.18 Media, edging up 4.65%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Realty index advanced 1.72% to 803. The index has lost 7.19% in last one month and tanked 17.28% over last one year. Anant Raj, up 3.03%, led the gainers followed by Godrej Propert., inching higher 2.63% and Brigade Enterpr., gaining 2.62%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty IT index fell 1.09%. The index has posted strong gains of 14.91% in last one month and retreated 10.67% over last one year. TCS, edging lower 1.64%, led the losers followed by Coforge, easing 1.49% and Wipro, down 1.24%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.


Asian markets edged higher on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is lower by 0.70%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.76%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is substantially higher by 1.73%.


In Europe, German DAX edged lower 0.08%, UK’s FTSE 100 posted modest gains of 0.72% and French CAC ticked up 0.83%.


In Commodities, MCX Gold drifted lower by 0.59% to trade at Rs 1,43,171 per 10 grams.
