Onion availability outlook turns facourable
(17:16, 08 Oct 2026)
Government data indicates a significant improvement in the outlook for onion supply, underpinned by increased Kharif acreage, beneficial crop conditions, substantial market arrivals, and the initiation of fresh Kharif supplies bolstering the market. This strengthening supply situation is already contributing to a widespread easing of onion prices across wholesale markets and key consumer locations. New Kharif onion arrivals have begun from principal producing states, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, while availability from reserve stocks remains sufficient to satisfy market demand. Deliveries from these regions are projected to rise further in the weeks ahead, enhancing overall availability in consuming markets throughout the forthcoming festive season. The production forecast for the Kharif crop is also positive.
