The Reserve Bank of India’s latest monthly bulletin indicated that the Indian economy registered a growth of 7.8% in Q1:2026-27, propelled by domestic consumption and investment, notwithstanding prevailing geopolitical uncertainties. A notable expansion in private final consumption expenditure (PFCE) was underscored by resilient vehicle sales and an increase in personal loan disbursements. Fixed investment demonstrated its highest growth within the current series, attributable to vigorous capital goods demand, amplified Union Government capital expenditure, and sustained expansion in finished steel consumption and cement output. Concerning external factors, net exports provided a positive contribution to real GDP growth. Demand in both rural and urban areas remained steadfast in August, as demonstrated by vigorous two-wheeler sales and continued growth in passenger vehicle sales.
