The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) indicated that currency in circulation increased 0.4% on a fortnightly basis, reaching Rs 43.02 lakh crore as of September 15, 2026. The central bank noted that aggregate reserve money decreased 0.1% during the same interval, settling at Rs 52.71 lakh crore. Currency in circulation registered a 13.2% expansion year-on-year, in contrast to an 8.9% rise recorded during the corresponding period last year. To date in the current fiscal year, currency in circulation has advanced 3.3% while reserve money has risen 3.2%.
