India textile exports zoom in August 2026

India’s textile sector demonstrated robust export expansion in August 2026, with aggregate exports advancing by 16.1% year-on-year to Rs 29,776 crore, in contrast with Rs 25,656 crore during August 2025. Over the April–August 2026 period, cumulative textile exports attained Rs 1.43 lakh crore, reflecting growth of 10.3% over the corresponding period of the prior year. The expansion was widespread across numerous key textile categories. In August 2026, exports of cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups and handloom products increased by 24.1%, while man-made yarn, fabrics and made-ups rose by 19.9%. Carpet exports posted growth of 15.0%, while handicrafts, excluding handmade carpets, exhibited notably strong growth of 41.4%. Ready-made garments across all textiles also sustained positive momentum, advancing by 6.1% throughout the month. The cumulative performance during April–August 2026 similarly remained favorable, with cotton textiles growing by 18.0%, man-made textiles by 13.6%, carpets by 11.9% and handicrafts by 44.0%.
