The key equity barometers traded with marginal losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23361-23231. Nifty Media, Nifty IT and Nifty Healthcare Index shares rose, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal shares retreated.
NIFTY slipped by 0.59% in last session and posted steep losses of 4.50% over last one-week.
At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, moved lower by 387.97 points or 0.52% to 74,514.62. The Nifty 50 index inched down 131.20 points or 0.56% to 23,346.60.
The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged lower by 0.57% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index lost 0.62%.
The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1695 shares advanced and 3136 shares fell. A total of 246 shares were unchanged.
Nifty Media index edged higher by 0.60% to 1544. The index has inched lower by 1.58% in last one month and posted modest losses of 4.73% over last one year. Sun TV Network, rising 5.85%, led the gainers followed by Saregama India, up 1.64% and Tips Music, edging up 1.41%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 5 are reporting gains today.
Nifty IT index added 0.40% to 29006. The index has fallen 8.66% in last one month and posted steep losses of 20.16% over last one year. Tech Mahindra, inching higher 1.77%, led the gainers followed by HCL Technologies, adding 1.75% and Infosys, gaining 0.82%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.
Nifty Realty index tanked 3.31%. The index has eased by 2.88% in last one month and edged lower by 1.33% over last one year. Godrej Propert., falling 7.22%, led the losers followed by Lodha Developers, declining 6.08% and A B Real Estate, edging lower 3.98%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.
Asian markets posted steep losses on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is significantly lower by 1.35%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.73%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply lower by 1.93%.
In Europe, German DAX moved up 0.50%, UK’s FTSE 100 edged lower 0.57% and French CAC slipped 0.49%.
In Commodities, MCX Copper ticked up 0.80% to trade at Rs 1,374 per kg.
