NIFTY stays slightly lower after falling in the previous session

The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24025-23920. Nifty Realty, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Media shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares retreated.


NIFTY inched higher by 0.02% in last session and posted steep losses of 3.47% over last one-week.


At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 10.47 points to 76,580.82. The Nifty 50 index up 14.40 points to 23,928.85.


The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest gains of 0.13% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index gained 1.02%.


The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 3000 shares rose and 1780 shares fell. A total of 266 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Realty index gained 2.29% to 914. The index has inched lower by 2.18% in last one month and posted modest gains of 0.79% over last one year. Anant Raj, strengthening 8.52%, led the gainers followed by Brigade Enterpr., adding 3.92% and A B Real Estate, inching higher 3.79%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty PSU Bank index rose 1.26% to 8619. The index has posted modest gains of 0.29% in last one month and soared 24.26% over last one year. Bank of Maha, rising 6.22%, led the gainers followed by UCO Bank, edging up 2.42% and Pun. & Sind Bank, gaining 2.34%, respectively. All 12 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty IT index edged lower by 0.84%. The index has slipped by 1.93% in last one month and slipped 12.97% over last one year. Mphasis, easing 1.67%, led the losers followed by Tech Mahindra, down 1.49% and LTM, edging lower 1.34%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.


Asian markets edged lower on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.05%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally lower by 0.34%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is slightly lower by 0.17%.


In Europe, German DAX inched higher 0.03%, UK’s FTSE 100 eased 0.30% and French CAC posted modest losses of 0.26%.


In Commodities, MCX Gold inched up 0.71% to trade at Rs 1,52,510 per 10 grams. MCX Crude oil slipped 0.83% to trade at Rs 8,580 per barrel.
