A recent government update reveals that the coconut sector has become a vital contributor to India’s agricultural exports, playing a key role in supporting the country's export ambitions. In the fiscal year 2025-26, India's coconut exports reached Rs 7,038.35 crore (approximately USD 794.70 million), representing a substantial 62 percent increase compared to Rs 4,349.03 crore in the previous year. This growth reflects a significant rise in global demand for coconut products from India and illustrates the remarkable progress made since 2001-02, when exports were merely Rs 25.3 crore. Historically, these exports were primarily limited to traditional products such as coconut shell charcoal, coconut oil, and desiccated coconut.
