The area under all kharif crops in India has reached 92 percent of the normal area of 1104.46 lakh hectares as of August 14. The deficit from the previous year is now less than 1 percent. Sowing area for this kharif season is 1,016.57 lakh hectares, down from 1,037.52 lakh hectares last year, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
