The domestic equity benchmarks traded with modest losses in morning trade, as escalating US-Iran tensions near the Strait of Hormuz dampened global risk sentiment and triggered caution across Asian markets. Persistent foreign fund outflows, elevated crude oil prices and rising geopolitical uncertainty further weighed on investor confidence, overshadowing optimism about a medium-term recovery in domestic equities.

The Nifty slipped below the 24,250 mark amid broad-based selling pressure. Private bank stocks witnessed profit booking after advancing in the previous two consecutive trading sessions.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex slipped 305.66 points or 0.40% to 77,547.99. The Nifty 50 index declined 88.50 points or 0.35% to 24,240.10.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. the BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.08% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rallied 0.33%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 1,805 shares rose and 1,691 shares fell. A total of 201 shares were unchanged.

New Listing:

Shares of Onemi Technology Solutions (Kissht) were currently trading at Rs 207.35 at 10:35 IST on the BSE, representing a premium of 21.26% as compared with the issue price of Rs 171.

The stock debuted at Rs 191, marking a premium of 11.7% to the issue price.

So far, the stock has hit a high of Rs 210.75 and a low of Rs 190.35. On the BSE, over 20.74 lakh shares of the company were traded in the counter so far.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Private Bank index fell 0.97% to 26,522.60. The index advanced 2.72% in the past two consecutive trading sessions.

Axis Bank (down 1.59%), HDFC Bank (down 1.4%), Federal Bank (down 1.06%), Bandhan Bank (down 0.98%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.80%), ICICI Bank (down 0.78%), IndusInd Bank (down 0.37%) and IDFC First Bank (down 0.20%) declined.

On the other hand, RBL Bank (up 0.65%) and Yes Bank (up 0.04%) edged higher.

Stocks in Spotlight:

Mahanagar Gas slipped 1.36% after the company's standalone net profit tanked 45.55% to Rs 131.92 crore in Q4 FY26 as against Rs 242.30 crore posted in Q4 FY25. Revenue from operations (excluding excise duty) surged by 4.51% YoY to Rs 2,051.22 crore for the quarter ended 31 March 2026.

Pidilite Industries added 1.83% after the company reported 37.20% jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 579 crore on 14.07% increase in revenue to Rs 3,583 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25.

Gravita India shed 0.27%. The company reported 5.17% decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 69.7 crore on 6.40% increase in revenue to Rs 915 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25.
