Japan stocks snap two-day losing streak
(16:55, 30 Jul 2026)
Japan's stock market rose on Thursday, with the Nikkei 225 Index increasing by 0.71% to 61,867, ending a two-day decline. This rise was mainly due to strong demand for semiconductor stocks after Advantest raised its annual profit forecast, predicting a 35% increase in operating profit. Advantest shares soared over 10%, boosting confidence in the semiconductor sector and affecting other tech and AI-related companies like Kioxia Holdings and Tokyo Electron. However, some large-cap stocks struggled, with SoftBank Group down 2.7% and other financial and consumer stocks like Toyota Motor also declining.
