Singapore Market end lower

The Singapore stock market finished session lower on Thursday, 30 March 2023, bucking the global trend, weighed down by banks stocks.

At closing bell, the Straits Times Index (STI) index was down 5.36 points, or 0.16%, to 3,257.18 after trading between 3,238.98 and 3,262.67. Volume was 2.19 billion shares worth S$1.36 billion changed hands. There were 308 gainers and 255 decliners.

The top performing stock in Straits Times Index constituents was Jardine Cycle & Carriage which rose 2.23% to S$30.66, while the bottom performing stock was Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, falling 2.4% to S$1.21.

The local banking trio, accounting for a weighting of over 40% of the STI, were lower. United Overseas Bank declined 0.37% to $29.84, DBS fell 0.3% to $33.50, and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp was 1.12% lower at $12.39.
