The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reported that currency in circulation increased by 0.30% to Rs 42.90 lakh crore as of August 15, 2026. The reserve money decreased by 0.60% to Rs 52.39 lakh crore during the same period. Year-over-year, currency in circulation rose 12.4%, compared to 8.3% the previous year. In the current fiscal year, currency in circulation has increased by 3% and reserve money by 2.6%.
